What style of shoes to wear with your outfit

What style of shoes to wear with your outfit:

Matching your shoes to your outfit can sometimes be a challenge especially if it is something you are doing in your head, I offer get asked for advice in the shop and also have lovely customers who bring their outfits in to match up, so thought would share my top tips with you:
  • My first major tip is the footwear has to be comfortable, if they don't fit, you hobble in them or even if the shoes fit but you don't feel confident wearing that type of style - don't buy them. The footwear on your foot should firstly be something you like and feel confident in and finish your outfit so that you feel confident and happy.
  • If you like to wear darker clothing and your favourite shades are black, grey and brown lighten your whole outfit up by rocking a bright pair of shoes. It will make your whole outfit look trendy and smart and not put you into colours you are not comfortable wearing.
  • Have one pair of attention getting shoes. Match these shoes with a little black dress or an outfit that is more demure. The more attention getting your outfit is the plainer your footwear should be.
  • Match your shoes to your outfit, although I normally rock sports shoes in the shop no matter what I am wearing if I am outside the store I would not wear funky sandals with a conservative suit or frumpy flats with a cocktail dress and if you are ever not sure you cannot go wrong with a black black high heel with either a closed toe or a peep toe.
  • If you are going to an outdoor event, either invest in a pair of heel stoppers (little circle disks that slide onto the heel) or go for a chunkier heel or a wedge, otherwise you will spend all day balancing on your toes which will get painful fast!
  • If you are wearing a floaty style outfit, wear lighter styled footwear, such as strappy heels, peep toes or sling back high heels
  • The heavier the outfit the more closed in style shoe you should wear.
  • Although I am guilty of this myself if you are wearing flats make sure your pants are hemmed so that they are not dragging on the ground and turning a great outfit with great shoes into a untidy mess!
  • If you have a special event to go to, you do not have to match your shoe colour to your dress and if you do not wish to wear black, look at the metallic colours such as silver, pewter or bronze they look wonderful with most colours.
