Home Remedies for Dry Feet!

Home Remedies for Dry Feet.

The following are my top hints and tips for getting your feet in tip top condition for the summer months when your feet are on display!

So if you have dry feet and calluses the following home tips could be used to reverse this:
  • Vinegar Soak - once a week fill a basin with warm water, a small amount of dish washing liquid and one cup of vinegar, soak your feet for half an hour, then rinse well and massage in your favourite moisturiser. If you do not like the smell of vinegar you can replace this with half a cup of baking soda
  • Socks and Lotion - if you feet are very dry, then every night for a week apply a generous amount of lotion just before bed and then put a pair of socks to protect your bedding, after a week your feet will be a lot smoother.
If you have dry and cracked heels then:
  • Have a shower to soften the skin and then using a pumice stone gently scrub at the dry skin, rinse your feet, dry your feet off and apply a moisturiser
  • Make sure your heels fit in your sandals or scuffs correctly, if the edge of the heel of the shoe is making contact with the heel of your foot it will cause dry skin
  • If you have badly cracked and dry heels, wrap your heels in a quality duck tape and then put socks on, keep this on for a couple of days, take off and then shower and scrub your feet with a pumice stone and apply lotion. Repeat if needed.
Also for the ladies who have left nail polish on from last summer and now have nails that are half normal and half stained with yellow through wearing nail polish for too long:
  • completely remove the old nail polish, then use a nail brush and gently scrub your nails
  • mix up a paste of lemon juice and baking soda (equal parts) and apply the paste to the yellow part of the toenail and leave for 5 minutes, then use a gentle nail buffer to buff the nails (don't scrub!)
  • Rinse off the feet, dry and apply lotion.
  • The best way to stop this issue is to apply a quality clear base coat before applying your nail polish, it will reduce this issue and also to not leave the polish on till your toes look like a half and half scary experiment :-)
As always if you have serious feet issues see a professional and you can also always purchase a pamper package with your local nail professional.
