Tips and Tricks with Zips

Tips and Tricks with zips:

The following are some cool tips and tricks I have either learnt from customers or from running my stores

  • If you have a back back or lack of flexibility then a cool tip is to before you put the boot on put a shoe lace through the tap and then you can gently pull on the shoe lace to zip the boots up to a point where you can comfortably reach the zip :-), you can also reverse this process when taking the boot off.
  • If you have larger calves and have found your dream boots however just can't quite zip them up then the following works like a charm. Instead of trying to force the zip, pull the boots down slightly, they will bunch slightly around the ankles, so there is no pressure when you zip the boot up and  volia you will be able to zip the boot up, once zipped you will find you can easily pull it up the rest of your leg so it sits where it should.
What do you do when you notice that the zip on your favourite boot or even a new pair of boots is not sliding with ease?
  • First tip is to make sure you always zip the boot fully open when you are putting them on and off as otherwise you will twist the zip which could cause it to fail.
  • The next is to grab a graphite pencil, or candle or lip balm and rub the teeth of the zip on both sides to lubricate the zip and then slide it up and down a few times and you should find it works with ease
  • Also check the boot lining as it could be getting caught when you are zipping up the boot and need to be pushed out of the way.
